Derrick Durr, 31 is Co-Owner of Epic Arts and Entertainment and a professional Light Heavy Weight Boxer. Durr is also the Founder of GUNS DOWN/GLOVES UP and D Champs, LLC. Durr was born and raised in the Englewood community, which is known as the Murder Capital of Chicago. He started his boxing career in 2013 as a heavy weight. During his ametuer career he fought 31 bouts, with 19 knock outs.Durr is a 3-Time Golden Glove Champion in 2013, 2014, and 2015.In 2016 Durr was the #1 winner when United States fought against Ireland for the Olympic qualifiers, giving him international notoriety.Durr turned pro in 2017 fighting with 4 Champs winning a 3rd round knockout. The following year, in another 4 Champs All-star line up, Durr knocked out his opponent in the 1st Round.In 2019 DM PROMOTIONS headlined Durr who had another knock out on the 2nd round, giving his current pro career to date a record of 3-0.Through his outreach D Champs, Durr hosted a Toy Drive during the 2019 Christmas season in his hometown of Englewood giving away over 350 toys in a partnership with AT&T. His outreach in his community is very important to him. Durr is very authentic about poor choices he has made growing up, using the streets as a way to escape reality and getting pressured into gangs. Having been raised by a single mother alongside 5 brothers and 6 sisters. In 2014 he lost his younger brother to gun violence. Having witnessed this tragic event left Durr with the desire to keep pursuing his career as a fighter, but use it as a vehicle to mentor other young kids in his community on utilizing tragedy as fuel to pursue a dream and passion.Durr works diligently everyday with his trainer of 10 years; Calvin Richardson AKA \"Big Dogg\". Big Dogg who is not only a mentor, has produced 3 pro fighters and his fighters have a reputation to win.Durr recently just signed to Kim Spies, who works with WBC Heavy Weight Champion Deonte Wilder and her management company is in negotiations with Kahn Promotions in London.Durr has 5 professional fights slated as his journey to the WBC is eminent.Durr, just inked a deal with production company; Gage Films to produce his documentary and Durr is currently working with EPIC ARTS and ENTERTAINMENT as a boxing coach and mentor, as well as, a possible movie deal through the theatrical. company; Jordan Management.In 2020 Durr was part of a symposium alongside State's Attorney Kim Foxx and National activist Nate Pendleton, father to slained teenager Hadiya Pendleton, who addressed a room full of grieving mothers and families whose loved ones were killed by gun violence, their objective is to create solutions and sentencing laws for offenders and ex-offenders in the state of Illinois.Durr's advocacy is focused on joining other activists, community leaders, policy makers and law enforcement agencies to address the over 8,000 unsolved murders in Chicago.
